Lecture: Dave Tamanini

Selected date

Thursday September 8

Selected time

6:30 PM  –  8:30 PM

How do the Salem witch trials relate to today?  This may seem like an odd question, but to author Dave Tamanini, the 1690s are not so far removed from the 2020s! The themes of racism, fear, and hysteria still live on over 300 years later.

Dave Tamanini grew up an avid reader of history and fiction alike, and began his writing career as a high schooler. However, his career path took him on a very different journey that led him to work in civil rights and law. After a successful career advocating for others, Tamanini has returned to his writing and published the historical fiction novel, Tituba: The Intentional Witch of Salem in 2020.

Join us as we welcome Tamanini to talk about the influence his civil rights career had on his writing, how he chose Tituba as a focus for his writing, how he became a published author, and what he hopes this work can demonstrate to the modern audience. This event will be both interview and Q&A in style, so come with your questions about the book, his career, and writing in general!

There is no charge for this event, but registration is requested.

Tituba: The Intentional Witch of Salem is for sale in our gift shop and will also be available for sale at a book signing to follow the presentation.
